FAQs

  • The location for each session is selected based on the course / trip, group, tide and weather forecast for the day. We will contact you by 6pm at the latest on the evening before your course to confirm the meeting location.

  • We provide all the technical equipment you will need for your kayaking course / tour, with the exception of foot wear. Please make sure you have suitable water shoes. The kit we provide includes: kayaks & paddles, long-john wetsuits, spray jackets, spray skirts, PFDs and a dry bag. When necessary we will provide helmets, tow lines, pumps, split paddles and other safety equipment.

  • On the day you’ll need with you: swim wear, water shoes/ shoes you’re happy to get wet, a towel, a change of clothes, lunch, a water bottle, sun cream and a sun hat.

The wetsuits we provide are long johns, this means they cover your body and legs but not your arms, so you will also need some warm synthetic layers to wear underneath your spray jacket - such as thermals, sports tops and fleece layers (no cotton please!). It doesn’t hurt to have one or two spare layers for lunch time!

  • Yes, we do. We take children age 15 or above on all our Anglesey based kayaking courses and tours. However, anyone under the age of 18 does need to be supervised by an adult.

We also offer private family kayaking adventures on Anglesey, where we can take out families with children age 10 and above. Click here to find out more.

  • We offer both single or double kayaks depending on the course or tour you have booked.

For our Anglesey Sea Kayak Experience Days and Private Family & Friends Days we advise double sea kayaks if you have not tried kayaking before, as they are fitted with rudders and are easier to manoeuvre.

For all intermediate and skills courses such as Intermediate Guided Days and Intro to Sea Kayaking we only use single kayaks.

  • Yes absolutely, all our tours and courses are suitable for solo travellers and kayakers.

  • Wearing a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) is mandatory for all our courses, so whilst you don’t need to be a strong swimmer, we do ask that all participants are water confidant and capable of swimming 50 metres unaided.

  • Anglesey is a big island with a wide variety of venues, as such we can usually find somewhere with suitable weather. However, if the weather is simple too bad to get on the water we offer either an alternative date or full refund. Find out more in our Ts&Cs.

  • Most of our course meet at 9am and are usually off the water at around 3pm. This does vary with weather and tide.

  • We strongly recommend taking out cancellation and curtailment insurance, travel insurance and accident and personal injury insurance. Passage Guiding holds its own public liability insurance.
